Blog Content Ideas for When Writing Gets Boring

Who says you have to write blog posts?

And now you know that at the night of this posting, there will be a #NWITweetup at Gauchos in Valparaiso – and all the cool kids are going :-P

And as for the writing? Simple, short and sweet. And some soft alliteration.
Maintaining a blog can be simple and fun at the start.

After awhile the schedule, discipline, and repetition becomes like an old song.
Then the old song starts to feel…well, old.

And if it’s feeling old for you, it’s probably feeling old for your readers.

As the old phrase goes, there’s no better time than the present to mix up the content your business is publishing on the blog.

Different ways to mix up the content on your business blog:

Video – A camera, a couple people with chemistry, and half-hour for a few takes to get the skit down pat and you have minutes of good video content. And with an intern and some easy video-editing software such as Apple iMovie or Microsoft Movie Maker, you’ll have many, many more minutes of outtakes.

Online Demonstrations – if you have a service that involves the use of online services, record the online demonstration. You can post it to video sites such as YouTube and Vimeo. Here’s an ehow link on how to record and online webinar for demonstrations.

Charts - Print isn’t really dead. But people gloss over quickly when they have to read too much copy. Give them a chart. People like to see pretty things.

Conduct Surveys – Readers want to share thoughts; you want feedback. Meet in the middle by conducting a survey. “But don’t they take a lot to program?” Nope. If you can form questions, then there’s widgets for that let you quickly ask survey questions. Try FormSpringFormSpringFormSpring or Cha ChaCha Cha reviewsCha Cha reviews to start. And if you don’t like them, Google DocsGoogle DocsGoogle Docs has a place to construct a survey.

Perform online contests – one of the best ways to get content without having to write it yourself is to perform online contests. For example, if you’re a local hotel, then ask people to write 250 words on their favorite experience at your place. Then give away a free night to the winner. A small price to pay for priceless user interaction…and the buzz that follows.

What you’ll find, hopefully, is that when you’re coming up with new ways to post content, you’ll stumble across new content ideas. And the old song will become new again.

Because some songs never get old.

And if you have any questions on how to use any of the suggested ideas on your blog, or how to set up a blog so you can start using these ideas to tell your company’s story, please let us know.
